Arsenal are confident of agreeing terms over a new contract for Jurrien Timber, with Andrea Berta leading a push to get an extension sorted, according to a report.

Simon Collings reports for The S*n that Arsenal are confident of extending Jurrien Timber’s contract, with talks understood to be progressing well.
The two parties have been in conversations for a while, with initial talks opening earlier this season, and Timber’s current deal doesn’t expire until 2028.
But Arsenal want to reward the player for his strong form, and Andrea Berta is leading renewal talks in the hopes that he’ll be the next player to put pen to paper.

Sami Mokbel had previously confirmed for the BBC that Arsenal had opened talks over a new deal for Timber, with optimism that he’d eventually commit.
And Fabrizio Romano claimed in October that the player himself was keen on signing a longer-term contract, with negotiations simply centring on the pay rise he would receive.

After signing for Arsenal in 2023, Timber had a less than ideal start to life with his new club due to suffering a serious ACL injury.
The defender spent most of the 2023/24 campaign out injured, but he’s made himself a regular starter since then. He’s now Mikel Arteta’s first choice, with the selection hierachy clear even before the recent injury to Ben White.
Arsenal will want to get a new deal sorted as soon as possible, so Timber can fully focus on his football.
