Arsenal’s strong December has been rewarded in the latest Women’s Super League award nominations, with recognition across management and playing staff following a run of results that lifted the club back into the Champions League places.

Renée Slegers has been shortlisted for the Barclays WSL Manager of the Month award after guiding Arsenal to league victories over Liverpool and Everton.
Those results moved the side up to third in the table, overtaking Manchester United and getting the team on track after a difficult start to the season.
Slegers is nominated alongside Andrée Jeglertz, who also led Manchester City to two league wins during the month.
Olivia Smith’s impact has been recognised separately, with the winger nominated for WSL Player of the Month. She opened December with a long range goal against Liverpool after beating two defenders, before coming off the bench to score a volley late on against Everton.
Smith is joined on the Player of the Month shortlist by Honoka Hayashi, Beata Olsson, Olivia Holdt, Khadija Shaw and former Arsenal striker, Vivianne Miedema.
There is further recognition in the Goal of the Month category.
Both of Smith’s league goals from December have been nominated, alongside Katie McCabe’s volley against the Toffees.
Hayashi’s goal for Everton against Arsenal has also been included.
Voting for the December awards closes at 11am on Monday, December 22, with the winners to be announced in January.
