The Premier League have announced the match officials for each of the upcoming Matchweek 16 fixtures, including Arsenal’s game at home to Wolves on Saturday, December 13th.

Rob Jones will referee the match, assisted by Neil Davies and Wade Smith. Paul Tierney will be the fourth official, with John Brooks on VAR and Dan Robathan as the assistant VAR.

Jones has refereed Arsenal on seven previous occasions, with the Gunners largely picking up positive results. Arsenal have won four, drawn two, and lost just one of the matches officiated by the 38-year-old.

Unfortunately, Jones’ last match refereeing the Gunners was also his most controversial, as Arsenal lost 2-0 to Bournemouth in October 2024.

Jones dismissed William Saliba in the first half and awarded a penalty to Bournemouth in the second, with Saliba’s suspension ruling him out of the Liverpool game the following week.

In fairness, Jones did initially show Saliba a yellow card. It was only after VAR official Jarred Gillett sent him to the monitor that he upgraded it to a red.

It’s been over a year since that match, with Jones regularly refereeing in the Premier League but not taking on any further Arsenal games until now. After refereeing 32 domestic fixtures not involving the Gunners, he’ll return to the Emirates Stadium for this weekend’s fixture.
