Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira notched his third goal contribution in three Bundesliga matches on Saturday, providing an excellent assist in HSV’s poor defeat to Hoffenheim.

There aren’t many reasons for Hamburger SV fans to be positive after Saturday’s match away to Hoffenheim, with the hosts securing a 4-1 victory to leave HSV just four points clear of the relegation zone.
But from an Arsenal perspective, Fabio Vieira was a rare player to come out of the match with any credit, after a great assist for HSV’s only goal of the game.

With HSV 4-0 down and still under pressure for more in the 82nd minute, Vieira picked up the ball midway through his own half with the chance to spark a counter-attack.
Spotting Rayan Philippe making a run, Vieira played a pass between the two defenders racing back and found Philippe, who finished the chance for 4-1.
It was Vieira’s third goal contribution in three Bundesliga games, having scored the winner against Stuttgart and assisted HSV’s second goal against Werder Bremen.

The loanee also converted a penalty in the shootout and was named in the Team of the Week in their only non-Bundesliga game during that same period, a cup tie against Holstein Kiel. So it’s been a strong run of form for him.
The highlights of HSV’s defeat are available here on the Bundesliga website, with Vieira’s assist at the timestamp 00:31.
