James Olley reports for ESPN that sources claim Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle to sign Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero from Independiente Del Valle, with the players to officially make the move in August 2027.

That’s because they can’t formally link up with their new teammates until they turn 18 in the summer of 2027, but the 16-year-old duo are in London this week to complete formalities including signing their contracts.

There’s no word on the fee, but Arsenal have reportedly fought off competition from a number of top European clubs to secure the transfers, having tracked the pair for well over a year.

Olley adds that the deal is viewed as something of a coup for Arsenal’s recruitment team, and the pathway to first-team football evidenced by Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, and Max Dowman’s progression was a key factor in pulling it off.

All the way back in April, Sami Mokbel had reported for the BBC that Arsenal were among a group of European clubs tracking the Quintero twins’ development.

Things have evidently progressed a lot since then, and it seems it’s just a matter of time until plans for their future transfers are confirmed. The duo will turn 18 on August 15th, 2027, at which point the summer window should still be open to make their moves official.

Edwin Quintero is a right-winger, capped at u17 level for Ecuador, whilst Holger Quintero is a midfielder who also has Ecuador u17 experience. The pair made their u17 debuts in the same game against Costa Rica last August.

Once their Arsenal moves are done and dusted, the brothers will look to push on into the Independiente del Valle senior side over the next year and a half.
