After multiple failed summer bids, Arsenal are finally going to get the green light to negotiate Igor Tyjon’s transfer in January, according to a report.

Alan Nixon reports on his Patreon page that Arsenal have received a boost in their bid to sign Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers, as it appears the youngster’s current club are now more willing to cash in on him.
The Gunners had at least two formal offers of £1m+ for Tyjon rejected over the summer, with Rovers clearly keen to hold onto one of their top talents.
Indeed, Rovers made Tyjon a fresh offer of a professional contract to try and convince him to stay. They also gave him minutes on the pitch in pre-season, and a few appearances in the first-team squad in Championship and League Cup games in August.

Yet Nixon reports that Rovers’ stance has changed since then. With Tyjon’s contract running out in 2026, the club may now choose to cash in.
As it became increasingly clear Tyjon didn’t intend to extend, Rovers also stopped giving him first-team chances. His last appearance in the senior squad was on August 23rd, and he’s been back playing with the u21s in the meantime.
But performances haven’t dipped, with the 17-year-old notching three goals and one assist in just three Premier League 2 appearances, as well as directly contributing to four goals in five appearances for the England u18s (including just two starts).

Arsenal are likely to continue to hold an interest in Tyjon ahead of the January window, as they ultimately failed to sign a striker, making another unsuccessful move for Will Wright.
If Rovers are now open to doing business, hopefully a compromise can be reached. If not, Arsenal could try again in the summer when the player’s scholarship contract expires.
