Napoli head of scouting Maurizio Micheli has agreed to join Arsenal’s recruitment team, according to reports on Tuesday night.

Sami Mokbel broke the news for the BBC on Tuesday that Arsenal are in advanced talks over appointing Napoli head of scouting Maurizio Micheli into a leading recruitment position.
Mokbel suggested Micheli was finalising a move to the Emirates Stadium, with Andrea Berta identifying him as a key appointment to his transfer team and discussions already underway.

James McNicholas and James Horncastle then confirmed for The Athletic that Arsenal are close to appointing Micheli, with Berta keen to add to his team following Jason Ayto’s departure.
Fabrizio Romano then went one further, writing that Micheli has agreed to join the Gunners and his move is imminent, with a deal to be formally sealed soon.

Micheli has been working for Napoli as their head of scouting since 2018, but he also had a spell at the same club as their chief scout between 2010 and 2015.
In the three years in between, Micheli spent time with Hellas Verona and Bologna.
Sami Mokbel highlights that Micheli has been credited with identifying the likes of Marek Hamsik, Kim Min-jae, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during his time with Napoli, and Arsenal will hope he can prove similarly successful in north London.
