Arsenal star believes he scored 1st goal at perfect time

Noni Madueke thinks his first Arsenal goal couldn’t have come at a better time, after scoring against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

Arsenal summer signing Noni Madueke made a strong start to the season up until his knee injury in mid-September, but he didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet before that extended layoff.

The fans were certainly impressed with the winger’s performance, but the wait for that first goal is always going to be an impatient one for an attacking player.

Madueke was therefore delighted to score Arsenal’s second goal in a 3-1 win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, which was also his first goal in the Champions League.

“It’s just amazing to be fair,” Madueke told TNT Sports. “First goal, couldn’t have picked a better game.

“It’s always difficult as an attacker, you want to hit the ground running straight away, sometimes you’ve got to wait. It was perfect, I’m so happy that the team got the win as well.”

“But of course, we’ve got another big one on Sunday,” Madueke added with a smile, referencing Arsenal’s upcoming game against his former club Chelsea.

“Obviously, first versus second, they’ve got a top team, we’re a top team, so yeah I think it’s going to be a good game. God willing, we get the result that we all want.”

Chelsea sit six points behind Arsenal going into the weekend, with the opportunity to cut that gap to three with a home win. But the Gunners will hope to extend it to nine instead.

Now that Madueke has his first Arsenal goal in the Champions League, Sunday’s match would be the perfect time for his first in the Premier League.
