Arsenal youngster Kyran Thompson received his second career call-up for the England u17s for the November break, and he received his second start for the team for a friendly match against the USA on Thursday.

The game didn’t initially go to plan though, with the USA holding a 2-0 lead up until the hour mark. Mathis Eboue pulled one back, before Thompson found the equaliser.

Thompson received a pass on the right-hand side of the pitch, and he squared up the defender before cutting inside and firing a shot at goal from a couple of yards outside the penalty area.

The powerful effort flew into the corner of the net, giving the goalkeeper no chance and levelling the scoreline at 2-2.

England took the lead two minutes later, before Thompson was withdrawn in the 79th minute. The comeback was already complete, but Eboue scored two more goals in the final 10 minutes to make sure the Young Lions left with a 5-2 win.

The England u17s have two more games coming up over the break, playing Ivory Coast on Saturday and Australia next Tuesday. Now that Thompson is off the mark for the team on the goalscoring front, he’ll be looking to add more if he gets further chances on the pitch.
