Everton lead PL clubs eyeing Arsenal forward transfer

Everton are among a number of Premier League clubs interested in Gabriel Jesus in the January window, but it appears he won’t be on the market.

Dharmesh Sheth, Rob Dorsett, and Lyall Thomas report for Sky Sports News that a number of Premier League clubs would be interested in signing Gabriel Jesus on loan during the January transfer window, with Everton among them.

Everton are prioritising signing a striker in the January window, particularly a player with Premier League experience, and various loans are being considered.

Jesus is one name on Everton’s radar, but it looks like it won’t be easy to convince Arsenal to let the striker go.

Sky Sports report that January departures from Arsenal are viewed as unlikely, and it doesn’t look as though Jesus will be available for transfer in the winter window.

The report highlights that Mikel Arteta recently suggested Jesus will be an important part of his plans in the second half of the season. The player himself has said something similar as well.

“Every day, the [Arsenal] coach and the board say they’re eager for my return,” Jesus said in late October. “I don’t see myself outside the club’s plans. I have a contract until 2027, and if it’s not renewed by then, I’ll be at the club at least until 2027.”

For now, Jesus’ focus is just on getting fit. Recent reports suggest Arsenal are looking to schedule a friendly match during the international break for the striker to get up to speed, following his return to full training.

But after 10 months out of action with an ACL injury, Arsenal will want to ease the player back, and there’s no expectation he’ll be involved as soon as club football returns. The end of the year is still the target.
