Arsenal fans have theory about Eze’s celebration vs Spurs

Eberechi Eze had a number of opportunities to celebrates goals for Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, and Gunners fans think one of his celebrations was directed at Richarlison.

Eberechi Eze bagged a hat-trick in his first-ever north London derby match on Sunday, and he celebrated each of his goals a bit differently.

For his first, the summer signing performed a knee slide and made a cross sign with his fingers, his usual trademark.

For the second, Eze put his hand to his mouth, an apparent cheeky callback to one of his previous celebrations against Spurs whilst still playing for Crystal Palace.

The third was a little more unconventional, with Eze feinting as if to take off his shirt a couple of times.

Arsenal fans believe the celebration was a reference to Richarlison, who removed his shirt in celebration during Spurs’ last match against Manchester United.

Having scored in the 91st minute, Richarlison whipped off his top and broke down in tears, believing he’d netted the winner. But Matthijs de Ligt quickly equalised, leaving Spurs with just a point.

Some fans think Eze was making a playful reference to his opponent’s overexcitement in that previous game.
