Bayern receive double injury boost ahead of Arsenal clash

Serge Gnabry appears set to return from injury to face former club Arsenal on Wednesday, with starlet Lennart Karl also ruling himself fit to play.

German outlet Abendzeitung München report that despite Serge Gnabry missing Bayern Munich’s last match against Freiburg due to knee problems, he’s expected to be fit in time to face Arsenal in midweek.

That’s a significant update, because Luis Diaz is currently serving a suspension for his red card against Paris Saint-Germain. Gnabry would ideally start in his place, though Raphael Guerreiro is also an option.

In other Bayern injury news, there were some doubts around 17-year-old Lennart Karl, who scored one and assisted another for Bayern in their game at the weekend.

Nordkurier report that Karl suffered a flare-up during the match of a hip injury sustained in training, cutting his appearance short. But the player himself has suggested he’ll be fine for the next game.

“Everything’s fine, I’m fit,” Karl said in quotes reported by the Rheinische Post.

But as well as Diaz’s suspension, Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies are likely both out, only recently returning to training after long-term absences.

Bayern are yet to confirm their travelling squad, and they also don’t appear to be planning to train at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

The club’s official social media accounts have confirmed the plan is to hold their “final training” session in Germany in the afternoon, before travelling to London later in the day. Perhaps the lack of hot water for Atletico’s visit to the stadium put them off.

Vincent Kompany will still hold his press conference in London on Tuesday, November 25th at 19:00 GMT, so we should get any last-minute fitness updates from the Bayern boss himself.
