Mikel Arteta came under a lot of pressure last season as it was another campaign in which the Gunners failed to win a trophy. Arsenal haven’t won a competitive trophy since their FA Cup win in 2020, and with hundreds of millions spent, it is no shock to see the manager face some scrutiny.
This season, however, the Gunners are the team to beat. They are first in the Premier League, six points clear of second, with a further four wins out of four in the Champions League.
The fans are excited, whilst there’s belief from many, including the media, that they can win the title or the Champions League. They have a few injuries but are still looking world class, with 10 wins in a row, and there’s one thing which they are managing to do this campaign which they haven’t in recent years.
Arsenal’s biggest asset this season has been the fashion in which they have been able to pick up victories. Over the past few years, in the matches where the pressure is on and where they should arguably be winning, they have either had to grind out tight victories or last-minute winners, or they have ended up dropping points.
This season so far, the Gunners have managed to avoid any potential slip-ups, and they have avoided them with ease. In recent matches, they have managed to pick up comfortable wins, like their recent 3-0 away win over Slavia Prague, whilst they only conceded one shot on target in the Premier League over October.
They have a new resilience around them this campaign, and this is the crucial factor which should see them win the Premier League.
They are the only team in the league that has managed to show this resilience this season, with rivals Liverpool and Manchester City looking inconsistent.
Declan Rice and Gabriel are stepping up and are two of the best players in Europe and the Premier League this season. This is emphasised by the fact that they’re among the leading contenders to win the PFA Player of the Year Award.
