Arsenal are reportedly one of seven clubs with the ability to activate Serhou Guirassy’s €50 million release clause this summer, as Borussia Dortmund prepare for the possibility of losing their leading striker.

Reports in Germany indicate that this is increasingly likely to be Guirassy’s final season at Dortmund. The 29-year-old has ruled out a January departure but is open to leaving in the summer for a new challenge.
At present, there seems to be two main options for his future.
The first is a move to one of the elite clubs permitted to trigger his release clause. According to bild, those clubs are Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
The second option is a move to Saudi Arabia. Guirassy’s brother, who also acts as his agent, has reportedly already begun offering him to clubs on the Arabian Peninsula with a view to securing a final major payday.

While Arsenal are formally entitled to activate the clause, the striker’s age and lack of resale value make a £50 million outlay unlikely within the club’s current recruitment model.
How much did Dortmund pay for Guirassy?
Since joining Dortmund from Stuttgart in 2024 for €18 million, Guirassy has scored 47 goals and provided 13 assists in 67 appearances. This season he has recorded 13 goals and four assists in 22 matches.
His contract runs until 2028.

Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing Guirassy before he joined Dortmund. While the Gunners could have opted to activate his €20m release clause for non-German clubs, Arsenal decided he was not the right fit due to his age and injury problems.
While he has only missed two games for Dortmund, his age continues to be a major problem and should bring an end to any possible rumours regarding a move.
