Jurrien Timber is ready to commit his long-term future to Arsenal, with the club confident of finalising a new contract for the Dutch defender after positive early talks.

Reports from Fabrizio Romano earlier this month suggested that Arsenal are “confident” an agreement will be reached, with Timber himself “keen on signing a longer-term contract”.
Negotiations are understood to centre on raising his salary to reflect his importance to Mikel Arteta’s side, rather than any uncertainty over his commitment. He is currently believed to be on around £90kpw.
According to Sami Mokbel, writing for the BBC, Arsenal opened discussions earlier this month, with Timber’s current deal running until 2028. Talks are described as being at an early stage, but there is optimism from all sides that an agreement will be reached without difficulty.

Since returning from the anterior cruciate ligament injury that ruined his debut campaign, Timber has established himself as one of Arteta’s most dependable players and the best in his position in the league.
His versatility has been key to Arsenal’s structure, regularly stepping into midfield when in possession or pressing high to recover the ball, and providing balance whether deployed at right-back or centre-half. It is this consistency that has prompted the club to push for an improved deal.
Timber joined Arsenal from Ajax in 2023, but suffered an ACL injury on the opening weekend of that season. After a year of rehabilitation, his return has been transformative. Arteta views him as a central pillar of his defensive unit, with his tactical intelligence often setting the tone for Arsenal’s build-up play.
Sources close to the negotiations have described the dialogue between the club and Timber’s representatives as “positive and productive”. While a formal agreement is yet to be finalised, both parties are said to be fully aligned in their desire to continue working together
