Serbia boss rules Fulham player out of Arsenal clash

Serbia boss Dragan Stojkovic has confirmed that Fulham’s Sasa Lukic will miss their upcoming clash with Arsenal due to injury.

Starting Fulham midfielder Sasa Lukic was withdrawn after just 14 minutes of their most recent match against Bournemouth, with manager Marco Silva suggesting it was a possible muscle injury.

That has now been confirmed by Lukic’s national team, with Serbia manager Dragan Stojkovic revealing that the 29-year-old will be out for a little while.

“Lukic has an injury to the adductor of his left leg, with a break between four and six weeks. We certainly couldn’t count on him against Albania due to the suspension,” Stojkovic said on Monday.

Fulham don’t have a particularly long injury list at the moment, but they’ve perhaps been unlucky with the injuries they do have.

Centre-forwards Raul Jimenez and Rodrigo Muniz were both injured for Fulham’s last game against Bournemouth, forcing Marco Silva to play without a recognised striker.

Muniz isn’t expected to return before Arsenal visit Craven Cottage on October 18th, and Jimenez is also a doubt, so it could be a similar situation on that occasion.

Fulham are also without starting right-back Kenny Tete, who has a knee injury and isn’t expected to face Arsenal.

So whilst Fulham’s injury list only has four names on it, two of them are guaranteed starters in midfield and defence, and the other two are their only recognised strikers.

Arsenal have the greater number of injuries right now (Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke, Piero Hincapie, and Martin Odegaard), but only Odegaard is clearly a guaranteed starter. So there can be few excuses from the Gunners’ side next weekend.
