Tino Livramento is set to miss six-to-eight weeks of football after sustaining an injury against Arsenal last weekend, according to a report.
Keith Downie and Adrian Kajumba report for Sky Sports that Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento is set to miss six-to-eight weeks of action after injuring his knee ligaments against Arsenal last Sunday.
Livramento had scans on the injury on Tuesday, and the good news was that he hasn’t ruptured his ACL. Even so, the player is set to miss up to two months of action, or around 10 matches.
Downie adds that Livramento did suffer the injury in a collision with William Saliba, but not on landing. Replays of the incident did appear to show Livramento landing awkwardly on one leg, but it’s the other leg in which he’s sustained an injury.
Whilst the news is disappointing for Livramento, it’s probably fair to say there also might be some relief for the player.
After missing over a year of football between 2022 and 2023 with an ACL injury, the 22-year-old would have been fearing another 12 months on the sidelines if he’d suffered an ACL setback.
To miss six-to-eight weeks is not nearly as bad, and the general reaction from Newcastle fans has been to suggest that it could have been worse.
Even so, Livramento will miss some key games, including the League Cup match against Spurs, a league game against Manchester City, and a few Champions League fixtures.
