Former Arsenal youngster finally finds new club

After months searching for first-team football, former Arsenal goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk has signed for Wealdstone.

The 22-year-old, who spent a couple of seasons at Arsenal’s Hale End academy before joining Manchester United’s development squad last September, has put pen to paper with the National League side in a move designed to ignite his senior career.

Graczyk joined Arsenal in 2017 after time in the youth system of Everton. Born in Skwierzyna, Poland and raised in England, he developed a reputation as a technically sound goalkeeper, known for his distribution and composure under pressure.

He signed his first professional deal with Arsenal in February 2021 and went on to make 29 appearances for the club’s under-21s in Premier League 2, as well as training regularly with the senior side.

Despite his steady progress, opportunities at first-team level proved elusive.

Arsenal’s goalkeeping overhaul in 2024 saw Graczyk released alongside Arthur Okonkwo, James Hillson and Ovie Ejeheri, with all four moving on to new clubs.

Graczyk subsequently joined Manchester United’s under-21 setup, where he made a handful of appearances last season but failed to break through into senior contention.

His move to Wealdstone offers a fresh start and a realistic chance of regular football, replacing Lucas Covolan, whose short-term deal with the club has ended.
