Arsenal youth goalkeeper Alexei Rojas is away with the Colombia u20s at the u20 World Cup this month, and the team have had a strong run in the competition so far.

Following an opening 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia, Colombia made it through to the knockout stages in top spot after draws against Norway and Nigeria.

The team saw off South Africa with a 3-1 win in the round of 16, then Spain with a 3-2 victory over the weekend. Neiser Villarreal has been the star of the show, scoring five of Colombia’s six goals in the knockout rounds so far.

Arsenal’s Rojas did play in a warm-up friendly win over Mexico ahead of the World Cup, but he’s yet to play any part in the actual competition. The goalkeeper has been named on the bench for all five matches so far.

Rojas has been regularly been called up by the Colombia u20s for three years now, making the squad on over 40 occasions, but he’s played for them fewer than 10 times.

The 20-year-old will stay hopeful that he’ll get a chance in the last two games of Colombia’s tournament, with the team now guaranteed to remain in Chile until this weekend.

Even if they lose to Argentina in the semi-final, they’ll play a third-place play-off on Saturday. If they win, they’ll be in the final on Sunday.
