Arsenal forward’s exit ruled out despite late transfer interest

AS Roma made a late move to sign Leandro Trossard this summer, but the possibility of a transfer exit has now been categorically ruled out.

Ryan Taylor reports for the Mirror that Arsenal rejected a late approach from AS Roma for Leandro Trossard, telling the Serie A club that a transfer wouldn’t be possible this summer.

Borrusia Dortmund and clubs from the Turkish Super Lig also showed an interest in Trossard, and the Turkish transfer window remains open.

But reports from elsewhere suggest a move to Turkey is not on the cards.

Fabrizio Romano writes that Arsenal aren’t planning for Trossard’s departure, despite links with Besiktas. Romano adds that a move to the Turkish Super Lig has “no chance of happening now”.

The Mirror’s report claims there’s every chance Trossard could leave in 2026, when he’ll be moving into the final year of his Arsenal contract. But for the time being, he’s clearly set to stick around.

The Belgium international is yet to make a start for Arsenal this season, but he did come on as a substitute against Leeds United, and he made one substitute appearance and one start for his country over the September break.

Though Arsenal haven’t officially confirmed Trossard’s recent new contract, the player did refresh his terms with the club ahead of the start of the 2025/26 season. The deal still expires in 2027, but Trossard received a pay rise.

Mikel Arteta effectively confirmed the agreement when asked about it in a recent press conference, saying: “I’m really, really happy with Leo. That situation has been resolved in a really great way and I think he deserves our recognition. We are really happy to have him.

“Leo was very clear from the beginning that he wanted to be here. The club was very clear they wanted Leo here, I was very clear that I wanted him here. At the end, a good outcome.”
