Arsenal confirmed on Friday that Alessia Russo has signed a new long-term deal with the club. The Gunners didn’t state the end date of the deal, but Russo’s previous contract expired in 2026, so she was due a new one.

“Arsenal feels like home,” Russo said. “This is such a special club and it has felt that way to me from the moment I joined two years ago. Playing for Arsenal is an honour and has pushed me to develop and grow as a player, and I feel empowered with this badge on my chest.

“I’m so proud of everything we’ve achieved together as a club, with our supporters driving us forward. But I’m still so hungry for more success, and I know that’s shared by everyone here at the club. I can’t wait to get started this season, starting with this Saturday at Emirates Stadium.”

Arsenal head coach Renee Slegers also shared her reaction to the news, saying: “Alessia is a really important part of our group and I’m so pleased that she has signed a new deal here. As a striker, Alessia’s goals often take the spotlight – but she brings so much more to our group.

“She’s a selfless player, working so hard for the team, and she also contributes so much to our team culture. I’m looking forward to striving for more together.”

Russo joined Arsenal in 2023 from Manchester United, and she’s since maintained a record of a goal every two games. Those goals and her all-around contribution to the team have helped Arsenal to win the League Cup and the Champions League during her two-year spell so far.

The striker won the WSL Golden Boot in 2024/25, but she’ll perhaps be even prouder of her three goals in the Champions League quarter-final and semi-final ties against Real Madrid and Lyon.

Yet after the Champions League win in May and scoring in the Euro 2025 final win over Spain this summer, a new season kicks off for Russo this weekend. With her new contract sorted, the 26-year-old can focus on her football and adding to that growing trophy haul.
