Though initially called up for the Spain u21s, Arsenal’s Cristhian Mosquera joined first-team training with his national side on Tuesday.

Cristhian Mosquera was one of a couple of senior Arsenal players to be called up for his country’s u21 team this September break, with Mosquera linking up with the Spain u21s and Ethan Nwaneri joining the England u21s.
Yet Mosquera has already had the chance to step up to the first team and train alongside fellow Arsenal Spaniards Martin Zubimendi, David Raya, and Mikel Merino.
Marca Catalunya report in their print edition on Wednesday, September 3rd that Mosquera was called up to train with the senior team on Tuesday, working with Spain boss Luis de la Fuente.

Perhaps Mosquera’s call-up was partly to do with his performance at Anfield at the weekend, with the Arsenal summer signing replacing William Saliba just five minutes into the match against Liverpool.
Mosquera put in a good performance and arguably deserved an Arsenal clean sheet for his efforts, but he could do nothing about Dominik Szoboszlai’s long-range free-kick winner.
The 21-year-old looks like a great signing at just £13m plus add-ons, and it seems inevitable he’ll end up in the Spain senior squad on a regular basis eventually.

Mosquera has technically already made his debut for Spain, but in the Olympic Games, which is really more of an u23 competition.
Aside from that appearance last year in July, the centre-back has been playing for the u21s, including in this summer’s European Championships. Spain now have two u21 Euro qualifiers over this September break, hosting Cyprus on Friday and Kosovo away from home next Tuesday.
