Injury latest on 7 Arsenal players for Manchester City clash

Arsenal are yet to decide whether Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, or Ben White will be available to face Manchester City on Sunday.

Just a couple of days before Arsenal’s match against Manchester City, Mikel Arteta told reporters he still wasn’t sure whether or not a few key players would be fit for involvement in the clash.

Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are certainly out, with Jesus not expected back much before the end of the year, and Havertz still months away. But there’s uncertainty around Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Ben White.

Arteta explained in his press conference on Friday that the club will only decide on Saturday whether Odegaard, Saka, or White can feature for Arsenal on Sunday.

The trio have reportedly been on modified training schedules, and they’re yet to join full training with the Arsenal team.

“If there is a chance it will be after tomorrow’s session because they haven’t done anything yet,” Arteta said. “But we will have more information tomorrow.”

Arteta also wouldn’t commit on whether William Saliba will be available to start, insisting the defender did “really well” just to be available on the bench in Bilbao.

“He’s really pushing it (to play Sunday),” Arteta said. “We’ll see.”

In better news, both Mikel Merino and Viktor Gyokeres are fit despite their respective head injuries during Tuesday’s game.

All in all, it doesn’t sound as though there will be too many changes from the squad that faced Athletic Club in midweek. If Odegaard, Saka, or White can make it back in time, they may come in, but none of the three are nailed-on for a return.
