Arsenal are set to have a sell-on clause in Dan Casey’s contract with Crystal Palace, once the former academy youngster’s transfer is confirmed.

Though it still hasn’t been officially announced, the expectation is that Crystal Palace are set to confirm the signing of Dan Casey, who was most recently on the books for the Arsenal academy.
Casey’s contract came to an end this summer, but given his age (17) and the fact he had an extension offer on the table from Arsenal, his transfer still requires compensation.
Recent reports suggested Arsenal had reached a full agreement with Palace over a compensation fee, but it may not just be an upfront cash transaction.

That’s according to Alex Howell of the BBC, who reports that there will be a sell-on clause included in the deal. Howell also confirms that a deal is close.
The Premier League recently published their official squad lists for 2025/26, and Casey was left out of both Arsenal and Palace’s lists. The deal evidently wasn’t completely sorted by that point on September 12th.
As well as Arsenal and Palace holding talks with him, Norwich City had also made contact over a potential transfer, but Palace have been the clear favourites for a while now.

Casey scored 21 goals for the Arsenal u18s in 2024/25, netting 18 times in 21 games in the u18 Premier League, twice in three games in the FA Youth Cup, and once in two u18 Premier League Cup appearances.
The teenager also made the step up to the u19s and the u21s on eight occasions, though he was less impactful in those limited minutes, with no goals or assists above u18 football so far.
