Brentford have made a late move and are set to sign Reiss Nelson from Arsenal, with the player on the way for a medical to complete a loan transfer.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Brentford have agreed a deal to sign Reiss Nelson from Arsenal on loan, with the player turning down interest from other Premier League clubs and European sides this summer.
Romano adds that Nelson is now on the way for his medical, with just hours remaining until the summer transfer deadline.
Isaan Khan confirms that Nelson is set to join Brentford, reporting that the winger chose Brentford over a second loan move to Fulham.

Fulham appeared to be in the mix for Nelson’s signing as recently as this morning, with various sources suggesting they were still holding talks for the player.
James Benge had then reported for CBS Sports that Besiktas were also interested, and willing to offer Nelson a pay increase. Besiktas had the advantage of the Turkish transfer deadline not closing until September 12th, giving them more time to secure a deal.
But at this stage, it seems Besiktas’ only hope of the signing would be if Nelson’s move to Brentford falls through at the last moment.

Brentford are in the process of selling Yoane Wissa to Newcastle United, and they’ve already sold Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United this summer. They need attacking reinforcements, and Nelson looks like a good stopgap solution for them on deadline day.
Now it’s just a matter of completing all the formalities of the transfer in time.
