Arsenal winger Charles Sagoe Jr. has been nominated for the Premier League 2’s Player of the Month award, after a strong start to the 2025/26 campaign.

The Arsenal u21s have had a mixed time of it so far, with one win, one draw, and one defeat in three competitive fixtures to kick off 2025/26. But one player who has stood out has been Charles Sagoe Jr.
The Premier League have confirmed that Sagoe Jr. is among eight nominees for their PL2 Player of the Month award for August, joining Mirsad Ali and Kevon Gray (Leicester), Reiss-Alexander Russel-Denny (Spurs), Harry Gray (Leeds), Shumaira Mheuka (Chelsea), and Shane Nti and Charlie Tasker (Brighton).
Sagoe Jr. earned his nomination by scoring in Arsenal’s opening-day defeat to Fulham, scoring and assisting in the 2-2 draw away to Nottingham Forest, and then scoring the winner at home to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Arsenal have only scored one goal this season without Sagoe Jr.’s direct involvement.

Only Harry Gray of Leeds United provided more Premier League 2 goal contributions in August, scoring four goals and adding one assist.
But arguably Sagoe Jr. faced the tougher opponents, with Fulham, Forest, and Brighton having an average current league position of 10th (from 29 teams), and Villa, Ipswich Town, and Burnley having an average position of 15th.
Two of Gray’s goal contributions also came in matches Leeds were already winning, which wasn’t the case for any of Sagoe Jr.’s four goals and assists.

The Premier League write that the winner of the August award will be decided and announced by the Premier League Football Development Panel later this week.
