Riccardo Calafiori and Bukayo Saka have been voted Player and Goal of the Month for August after strong performances at the start of the new season.
Riccardo Calafiori has been named Player of the Month for August after securing more than half the vote. The defender earned 52 per cent, finishing ahead of Jurrien Timber, Martin Zubimendi and Gabriel.
Calafiori began the campaign by scoring Arsenal’s first goal of the season in the 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, before setting up Viktor Gyökeres for his first strike in the 5-0 demolition of Leeds United.
His form has also brought a nomination for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award.
The Goal of the Month accolade went to Bukayo Saka, whose thunderous finish against Leeds edged out Gyökeres’ opener in the same match.
Slipped through by Timber, Saka drove his shot past Lucas Perri from a tight angle to claim 45 per cent of the vote.
Gyökeres scored twice that afternoon, first cutting in from the left to finish low before converting a penalty won by Max Dowman.
Timber also added two goals to an already outstanding individual display that included the assist for Saka.
