Arsenal back in for Rodrygo

The 24-year-old winger could be available before the deadline, with Arsenal ready to act if a loan or purchase option becomes realistic in the final days.

Arsenal are reportedly exploring a late-window move for Rodrygo Goes, with Mikel Arteta keen to add a left-sided attacking option before the transfer deadline.

The 24-year-old Brazilian is on the fringes at Real Madrid and could be available if his game time under Xabi Alonso remains limited in the opening weeks of the season.

Rodrygo is on the Real Madrid exit ramp
They have signed Zubimendi, Gyökeres, Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga, but at Arsenal they want more. Despite having spent almost 225 million in the transfer market, the London outfit still does not consider its squad closed.

There are two positions that Mikel Arteta values strengthening. He is a midfielder with a creative character and a footballer who can play as a left winger. According to The Times, the names seem to be clear.

As for the attacking midfielder, Eberechi Eze has all the ballots to make the 'gunner' team and Arsenal will contact Crystal Palace to find out his price. The case of the extreme left seems a little more complicated, although the British media points to a new formula in which the Londoners would work to take Rodrygo Goes.

With the money that has already been spent, Arsenal is studying a possible loan of the Brazilian footballer from Real Madrid. This is a type of operation that had not been evaluated until now and that would not convince the white team. Parting with a footballer for a season without leaving just money in the box is not the option that the Madrid team would most like. The positive thing about a transfer would be that it would allow Rodrygo to be revalued in view of a possible sale next summer. It could even include a mandatory or optional purchase option. If he stays at Madrid, the minutes that the Brazilian plays under Xabi Alonso point to being rather scarce, especially after the tracks that he left in the Club World Cup.

LONDONERS WILL RUSH THE MARKET WITH THE CONFIDENCE THAT THE LACK OF MINUTES WILL FACILITATE THE OPERATION

This could cause the market value of Rodrygo, which is currently 90 million according to Transfermarkt, to be reduced exponentially. A situation that would not be positive either for the footballer or for the club. That is the scenario in which Arsenal moves. He will wait for the last days of the market and is confident that, if he has a few minutes in the first League matches, the option of a loan will open up. Mikel Arteta would be one of the main supporters of the transfer, but to date there has been no type of conversation between the clubs.

At the age of 24, Rodrygo is facing a fundamental moment in his career. He has not shone when he has been the undisputed starter under Carlo Ancelotti and is not expected to have much prominence with Xabi Alonso. With a contract until 2028, the white team is in no hurry to part with him and left the decision in the hands of the player.

The Gunners have already spent close to £225 million this summer on Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyökeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Nørgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga, yet Arteta still wants a creative midfielder and a left-footed winger, according to this report.

Eberechi Eze is the preferred option in midfield, with Arsenal expected to approach Crystal Palace for a price.

Rodrygo’s situation is more complex. Arsenal are understood to be assessing a loan move, potentially with an option or obligation to buy, a structure not favoured by Madrid, who would prefer a permanent sale.

The Spanish club believe a season-long loan without a significant fee offers little immediate benefit, but it could allow Rodrygo’s value to recover before a future transfer. His market valuation is currently around £76 million, but Madrid accept it will fall if he spends much of the season on the bench.

Arsenal are apparently prepared to wait until the final days of the window, hoping a lack of minutes will shift Madrid’s position.

Rodrygo, under contract until 2028, has struggled to establish himself as an undisputed starter in Madrid. He failed to consistently impress when Carlo Ancelotti handed him a regular role, and with competition fierce under Alonso, his opportunities look set to diminish further.

The decision on his future ultimately rests with the player, but Arsenal are positioning themselves to act if he pushes for a move.
