Arsenal have agreed a new deal with Ethan Nwaneri for an initial four-year contract, according to reports.

David Ornstein reported for The Athletic on Tuesday night that Arsenal were in the final stages of talks over a new contract for Ethan Nwaneri, with the player prioritising staying in north London despite major interest from the Premier League and abroad.
Fabrizio Romano then added on Wednesday morning that Arsenal had reached an agreement in principle with Nwaneri over a new deal, with the player’s camp agreeing to sign a new contract.
Sami Mokbel of the BBC confirmed that Nwaneri is set to sign an initial four-year contract with Arsenal, with the deal agreed and formalities to follow.
Ed Aarons reports for The Guardian that the deal will include an option to extend by a year, potentially bringing it to 2030.

Despite recent claims to the contrary, Ornstein reports in his article for The Athletic that Nwaneri’s camp didn’t make any game time demands during negotiations. After 37 appearances in 2024/25, it was clearly felt he’s already getting significant minutes under Mikel Arteta.
The report also added that Nwaneri is set to play a more central role in Arteta’s team in the future, as opposed to the right-wing minutes he was often handed in 2024/25.
At the time, the teenager was needed as a backup to Bukayo Saka. But with Noni Madueke joining the club, the Gunners should already have a couple of strong options out wide on the right.

Chelsea had been among Nwaneri’s suitors, reportedly floating the possibility of his inclusion in Arsenal’s move for Madueke earlier this summer.
The Gunners weren’t interested in that proposal, and they’ve instead moved to tie the midfielder down for the long term now.
