Manchester United did make a recent enquiry for Viktor Gyokeres, but they haven’t made a bid and the Sporting CP striker’s focus is solely on Arsenal.

Following rumours of Manchester United bidding for Viktor Gyokeres over the weekend, David Ornstein and Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic have clarified that United did at least make an enquiry for the striker.
However, Whitwell adds that United sources have insisted the club haven’t bid for Gyokeres so far and won’t be doing so later.
Whilst Ruben Amorim is unsurprisingly a fan of his former player, the striker’s focus is Arsenal and a deal with the Gunners is close.

Fabrizio Romano confirms on his YouTube channel that intermediaries close to Sporting CP have offered Gyokeres to Manchester United on a couple of separate occasions, as well as offering the player to Saudi Arabian clubs in the past.
But player has made it clear to his current club that he’s only interested in Arsenal.
Romano adds that negotiations remain ongoing, with Arsenal holding new talks with Sporting on Monday, but there still hasn’t been a breakthrough just yet.

Arsenal have an agreement in principle with Sporting for a €63.5m (£55m) transfer with €10m (£8.7m) in add-ons. Those add-ons are the problem at the moment, with the two clubs failing to agree on a compromise.
Sporting are pushing for the entire €10m to be easy to achieve, which would effectively make the guaranteed fee €73.5m (£63.6m), but Arsenal only want to pay the full amount if Gyokeres achieves certain more ambitious targets.
