Incoming Arsenal signing set to lead to 25yo’s exit

Cristhian Mosquera’s arrival at Arsenal is expected to lead to the permanent exit of Jakub Kiwior, according to a report.

Gary Jacob and Tom Allnutt report for The Times that Cristhian Mosquera’s imminent arrival at Arsenal is expected to lead to the sale of Jakub Kiwior.

The latest reports suggest Mosquera has flown to London to finalise his transfer to the Gunners from Valencia, with Arsenal paying just £13m plus add-ons for the defender.

If the club did sell Kiwior, it would likely allow them to make a net profit on the two deals, freeing up funds for investment in other positions.

James McNicholas of The Athletic isn’t so sure that Kiwior is guaranteed to leave, reporting that there are no concrete developments on a possible departure for the defender just yet.

Following Kiwior’s strong end to the season, Arsenal will be well aware that he represents a capable alternative to Gabriel Magalhaes. They won’t want to push him out the door for pennies if they think he can do a job if he stays.

Kiwior is perpetually linked with clubs in Serie A, following his strong spell in Italy earlier in his career. But none of those clubs seem to have formalised their interest, and the fee offers coming out of Italy are generally very bad.

With Kiwior now proving himself in England, a more realistic option would probably be another Premier League club looking for an upgrade. As it stands, there’s no word on that front.

Still just 25, with a contract to 2028, Kiwior should be a valuable asset to Arsenal. The question is whether he’ll provide that value on the pitch or with a summer exit.
