Viktor Gyokeres doesn’t feel it was a difficult decision to join Arsenal this summer, despite interest from his former manager Ruben Amorim with Manchester United.

Viktor Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP this summer, but the striker certainly had the chance to go elsewhere. Most notably, Manchester United were interested, with Ruben Amorim having managed the centre-forward whilst they were working together in Portugal.
Perhaps United were the easier club to join, playing for a manager he already knew in a struggling team that would happily build around him to improve their fortunes. But Gyokeres never gave the club a second thought.
“I think you can always have a decision [over] your future,” Gyökeres said. “Of course there were other clubs as well, but I didn’t feel it was a difficult choice for me this time.”

Gyokeres reiterated the same sentiment in another interview with WTV released on Wednesday, saying: “Of course, you think about what options you have on the table, then you have to make a decision.
“For me, it felt obvious from the first second that this was what I wanted. It was not a difficult decision.”
The striker is yet to make his debut for Arsenal, with hopes that he’ll be involved as the team take on Tottenham Hotspur in their final friendly of the Asia tour.

After the team return to England, Arsenal have two more friendlies before the Premier League campaign kicks off… with a game against Manchester United.
“There are lots of games in the Premier League that excite you,” Gyokeres said of facing his former coach. “But this one will be special in that way.”
