Arsenal and Sporting CP are now finally on the verge of a total agreement for the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres, according to David Ornstein.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Arsenal and Sporting CP are now on the verge of a total agreement for Viktor Gyokeres’ transfer.
The two clubs had already struck a deal of €63.5m plus €10m in add-ons, but there’s been a lengthy delay finalising the exact nature of those add-on payments.
Ornstein writes that those talks are now at an “extremely advanced stage” with a conclusion imminent, and only finishing touches and minor tweaks still required.

Amid plenty of interest from elsewhere, Ornstein reports that Gyokeres was only ever focused on joining Arsenal, refusing to consider alternatives. The Gunners have a five-year contract lined up for the striker.
The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano had reported earlier in the day that intermediaries close to Sporting CP had offered Gyokeres to Manchester United on multiple occasions, as well as offering the player to Saudi Arabian clubs.
But Gyokeres always made it clear he’s only interested in Arsenal, preventing a potential bidding war.

Gyokeres’ scored 54 goals for Sporting in 2024/25, and a further nine for Sweden. It shouldn’t be ignored that 20 of those 63 goals were penalties, but 43 open-play goals is still a fantastic return for a single season.
The question now is whether the striker can adapt to a new team in the Premier League. With any luck, he’ll soon be playing alongside his future Arsenal teammates in pre-season.
