6 Arsenal youngsters get new squad numbers

Arsenal have confirmed six academy graduates will wear new squad numbers for the coming season, while defender Katie Reid has surprisingly opted to keep her current number.

The players taking on new numbers are Michelle Agyemang (29), Laila Harbert (30), Jessie Gale (33), Cecily Wellesley-Smith (36), Vivienne Lia (37) and Maddy Earl (38). Reid, despite speculation she might switch, will continue to wear 62.

With 33 players currently under contract, some departures are expected before the season begins as Women’s Super League squads are limited to 25 registered players.

The same 25-player limit applies in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where at least eight players must qualify as homegrown, either association-trained or club-trained.
