Chelsea are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of Arsenal-linked winger Jamie Gittens, hoping to wrap up a deal in the next week.

Mike McGrath reports for The Telegraph that Chelsea are in talks over the signing of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, hoping to wrap up a deal before the Club World Cup this summer.
Realistically, that gives them just days to finalise the transfer, as the pre-Club World Cup transfer window closes on June 10th.
Chelsea reportedly made an enquiry for Gittens in January, and they’ve now approached Dortmund again this month. The player has a release clause of more than £50m, which is roughly the fee at which the German club expect to do business.

Gittens could have been available for less if Dortmund had missed out on Champions League football, which was still a very real possibility up until the final game of the campaign.
The release clause would have dropped in that scenario, and dropped even further if they missed out on Europe altogether.
But the club ultimately snuck into fourth, meaning the clause is still set at over £50m.

The Athletic have previously confirmed that Arsenal are one of four interested parties for Gittens this summer, with the other three being Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona.
Though the same outlet played down any reports of advanced Arsenal talks for Gittens, and it seems Chelsea have since taken the lead in the race.
Gittens made 48 appearances for Dortmund in 2024/25, starting 34 times. He scored 12 goals and provided five assists in all competitions, including five goal contributions in 14 Champions League matches.
