Forward laughs off transfer question but keeps door open

Viktor Gyökeres continues to be linked with a summer switch to Arsenal, but when asked directly about the move on a Norwegian podcast, the Sporting CP striker gave nothing away. “Let’s see… nobody knows anything yet,” he said. “I wish I had a more fun answer but that’s all I can say for now.”
Appearing on Flymodus, hosted by former Coventry City teammate Leo Østigård, Gyökeres was pressed about a potential transfer. Co-host Bernt Hulsker asked outright: “Can you give us a hint? Is it Arsenal?” Gyökeres, laughing, offered only a vague response before Østigård jokingly closed the conversation by saying, “Send me a message when everything is signed with Arsenal,” to which Gyökeres replied, “Yes yes, of course.”

In Portugal, Record report that Sporting are seeking between €60m and €70m (£51m to £60m) for their top scorer, and a move is expected this summer, with the forward having already informed the club of his wish to leave. Other’s have said they want closer to €90m.
Sources close to Arsenal maintain that talks with RB Leipzig over Benjamin Šeško are ongoing, but there are also claims that Gyökeres has already verbally agreed to join the Gunners if a deal can be reached with his club.

With Šeško yet to agree personal terms and Leipzig demanding upwards of £75m, Gyökeres may yet prove the simpler option.
For now, Gyökeres, who scored 54 goals across all competitions in 2024–25, is focused on Sweden’s June friendlies against Hungary and Algeria.
Gyökeres has nine goals and four assists in his last six international appearances which came, home and away, against Azerbaijan, Estonia and Slovakia.
