Rodrygo isn’t giving up on staying at Real Madrid and would only consider a departure if Xabi Alonso suggests he won’t be a starter, according to a report from Spain.

Despite all the rumours in recent days, Spanish outlet AS report that Rodrygo isn’t opening the door to leaving Real Madrid this summer.
Though the winger is feeling down at the moment, his focus is on getting back to his best and helping the team in the Club World Cup next months.
AS report that Rodrygo plans to speak with Xabi Alonso when the manager arrives, and his intention is to earn the new boss’ trust. The 24-year-old would only consider leaving if Alonso tells him he could lose his starting role.

The update somewhat contradicts other recent reports from Spain, with Cadena SER claiming that Arsenal and another Premier League club have both been approached by Rodrygo’s camp offering him for a potential transfer.
Yet perhaps that’s just a case of the player’s representatives making sure their options are open, rather than a suggestion that he’s decided to leave.
AS have consistently suggested that Rodrygo will only make that decision after he speaks with Alonso.

Rodrygo has another 23 goals and assists in 50 appearances this season, after racking up 27 goals and assists in 52 games last campaign.
Though he may not be at his best right now, with one goal in all competitions since the start of February, the talent is clearly there. This could be a good time to pounce and get the 24-year-old winger firing again, if he’s willing to leave.
