Arsenal monitor Real Madrid forward but delay offer

Arsenal continue to monitor Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid, but they haven’t made an offer and Xabi Alonso appears keen to keep the winger in Spain.

Eduardo Burgos Rodriguez reports for Spanish outlet AS that Arsenal and Chelsea are closely monitoring Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid, amid the possibility that the winger could leave the club this summer. The Gunners have made informal contact over a potential move.

The report adds that Real Madrid haven’t communicated anything to Rodrygo about a potential sale, and he hasn’t asked to leave, but the Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on him anyway.

The final say reportedly lies with Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso and Rodrygo himself, with talks between the two yet to take place.

Relevo’s Jorge C. Picon reports that Rodrygo currently has no offers on the table. Picon confirms that Arsenal’s interest is real, but any potential move is a long way off.

Talks between Alonso and Rodrygo are evidently key, and they could be the one thing that might shift the balance towards a departure. But the Real Madrid manager hasn’t given any hint that he’d like the winger to leave.

“Rodrygo is a Real Madrid player,” Alonso said this week. “He is a spectacular player and we will need him.”

Rodrygo has 23 goals and assists in 50 appearances this season, after racking up 27 goals and assists in 52 games last campaign.

The 24-year-old isn’t at his best right now, with one goal in all competitions since the start of February, but the talent is clearly there. This could be a good time to pounce and get the 24-year-old winger firing again, if he’s willing to leave.
