Florian Plettenberg (via GFFN) reports that Christopher Nkunku has his sights set on leaving Chelsea this summer, with no apparent way back for the player with his current club.

Talks are ongoing with several clubs interested in signing Nkunku this summer, and he’s reportedly attracting interest from Bayern Munich and Arsenal.

Fabrice Hawkins reported in late April that player and club have reached a point of no return, following his exclusion from Chelsea’s squad against Fulham.

Even though the player returned to the Chelsea bench for their next game, he didn’t make an appearance, and he’s since dropped out completely for their last two matches.

Again, Hawkins wrote that Arsenal and Bayern are among the interested parties, with both clubs expressing that interest in January and expected to return in the summer.

Considering his limited chances for Chelsea this season, Nkunku’s 14 goals and five assists give him an impressive average of one direct goal contribution every 107 minutes.

Yet 10 of those 19 goal contributions came in the Europa Conference League or the Europa Conference League qualifiers, and a further four came against lower-league opposition in the domestic cups.

Only three goals and two assists were against Premier League opponents, and four of those were against Southampton.

Part of that is due to Nkunku’s limited minutes in the bigger games, but it’s still going to be a risk expecting him to replicate that kind of form as a regular in the Champions League or a Premier League title race.
