Jorginho has verbally agreed to join Flamengo on a free transfer this summer, with the deal to be confirmed once the midfielder formally terminates his Arsenal contract.

Vene Casagrande reported on Monday that Arsenal midfielder Jorginho had finally accepted all the terms of Flamengo’s contract offer to him, and he’ll sign a pre-contract agreement with the club in the next few days.
Jorginho’s contract will be valid for three years, but the start date will be slightly delayed so he has a chance to enjoy his wedding and honeymoon next month.
Having said that, the plan is to sign Jorginho ahead of the Club World Cup, which starts on June 17th. That means terminating his contract with Arsenal early, as the player’s deal officially ends on June 30th.
The report adds that Flamengo’s board of directors won’t officially confirm Jorginho’s transfer until he’s signed his Arsenal termination.

Fabrizio Romano confirms the report, writing that Jorginho is set to join Flamengo on a free transfer, which was reportedly been the plan since January.
The new deal to 2028 has been verbally agreed, with Jorginho’s consent. Now it’s just a case of completing the formalities.
There’s an additional transfer window specifically to help teams involved in the Club World Cup, with the window opening on June 1st until June 10th. That will presumably be when Jorginho makes his move official.

Jorginho is currently working on his return from injury, with BBC sources claiming he’s suffered a punctured lung. It’s unclear when exactly he’ll return, though it’s hoped to be before the end of Arsenal’s season.
