With the league season concluded, the Women’s Professional Game Awards were held on Sunday in London.
Arsenal players featured prominently among the winners.
Mariona Caldentey, named Arsenal Women Player of the Year on Saturday, added the Barclays Player of the Season award to her collection.
In her debut WSL campaign, the former Barcelona midfielder demonstrated the same technical quality, movement, and vision that defined her years in Spain.

There was notable frustration among fans last summer when Vivianne Miedema departed and Caldentey arrived in her place. The club’s decision has been firmly vindicated by her influence on the pitch and this recognition.
Alessia Russo also collected silverware, sharing the WSL Golden Boot with Bunny Shaw of Manchester City. After a slow start, Russo found form, scoring 12 goals in the league and 8 more in the Champions League across 35 appearances.

Deployed more centrally this season, her hold-up play and physical presence became essential in linking play under pressure.
Signed from Manchester United on a free transfer two summers ago, her impact continues to grow.
