Arsenal are targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo this summer, with talks progressing amid rival interest, according to a report.

Football insider Team News and Ticks reports on Patreon that Arsenal are targeting Bryan Mbeumo again this summer, having previously identified the winger as a potential target through work by the club’s data team last year.
According to the claims, Arsenal’s talks are progressing, but the Gunners aren’t the only club in the mix.
Mbeumo continues to play for Brentford for the time being, scoring his 19th Premier League goal of the season against Fulham on Sunday. The forward also has eight assists in the competition, plus one more against Newcastle United in the League Cup.

Mbeumo’s future is certainly going to be a topic of discussion this summer, with the 25-year-old having just a year left on his contract with Brentford. The Bees do have an option to extend by an extra 12 months, but this would still be a good time for them to cash in.
“If the right price — and that’s going to be expensive — is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open to [selling Mbeumo],” Thomas Frank said recently.
“But I’m very happy he is here, and I’m convinced that Bryan will still be happy playing football here.”

L’Equipe claimed in January that Mikel Arteta was an admirer of Mbeumo, with RMC Sport confirming that the Gunners were monitoring the player.
The suggestion then was that Brentford would want £50m or more for the winger. That’s unlikely to have changed much after another strong Premier League campaign.
Mbeumo currently sits fifth in the Premier League top scorer standings, only behind Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, Erling Haaland, and Chris Wood. Perhaps notably, Arsenal don’t have a player in the top 20.
