2 injured Arsenal players return ahead of PSG clash

Ben White and Mikel Merino have returned to training with Arsenal after their absences against Crystal Palace, putting them in line for comebacks against Paris Saint-Germain.

Both Ben White and Mikel Merino missed out on Arsenal’s draw with Crystal Palace last Wednesday, with Mikel Arteta claiming neither were available for inclusion due to injuries.

That raised concerns ahead of this Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain, but the good news is that both players were involved in Monday’s pre-match training session.

White has been in and out of the squad since his knee surgery, with Arsenal clearly keen to manage him carefully. With any luck, his absence against Palace was just a precaution.

As for Merino, last Wednesday was his first injury absence in three months, so it’s not clear exactly what the problem was.

Arsenal are already without Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel Magalhaes, Kai Havertz, Jorginho, and Riccardo Calafiori for the semi-final first leg, so it’s good to see that at least a couple of players will be returning to the squad.

There have been no suggestions of any new injuries since the Crystal Palace match, so White and Merino will only add to Arteta’s options. The Gunners will be missing Thomas Partey through suspension though.
