Just who will the Gunners sign this summer?

This summer looks like being an exciting one for Arsenal fans. Transfer windows often prove a tad disappointing for the Gunners but the next few months look like being crucial ones for Arsenal as they look to strengthen their squad.

Every glance at the transfer gossip pages seems to contain some Arsenal related news. Just what can Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta do to bring the Premier League trophy to the Emirates?

Betting on just who Arsenal might sign this summer is very popular at online sites. Odds and betting offers are constantly being offered and some good prices might just be received if a hunch becomes a reality.

Arsenal need a return to the days when they had an out-and-out striker who is speedy and capable of 30 goals a season in all competitions. That hasn’t happened since 2018/19 when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang achieved that feat.

At present, the Gunners don’t have anyone who can manage half that figure. Injuries have played their part in the 2024/25 season with Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus all missing far too many games.

If Arsenal are to win the Premier League next season, some magic needs to be worked in the summer. A major reason for the success Liverpool and Manchester City have enjoyed is the presence of a prolific scoring player such as Mo Salah and Erling Haaland.

While Haaland has signed a long-term contract with City, that is not the case with Salah. He previously played in London for Chelsea and what might they have achieved if they hadn’t let him go?

Salah is still odds-on to be with Liverpool when the transfer windows close. However, he is only 50/1 to leave Anfield and head to the Emirates. That would probably be the transfer coup of the century but one that looks unlikely to happen. Mind you, Salah leaving Liverpool and not replacing him adequately would give Arsenal’s title chances a big boost.

Much better odds are available on Alexander Isak joining the Gunners. He’s 6/1 to be signed during the summer but there are plenty of other clubs interested in the Newcastle striker. A major stumbling block here is that the Carabao Cup winners are talking about a £150 million transfer fee. The chances of Arsenal paying that for Isak look slim indeed.

A more likely target is RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. He is not a proven Premier League goalscorer of course but a lot cheaper than Isak. A transfer fee of around £67 million may be needed to sign the Slovenian who Arsenal did show interest in last season. He’s currently contracted to play for Leipzig until 2029. At the age of 21 though, spending so much on Sesko would be a big gamble.

How about Viktor Gyokeres who is only 2/1 to join the Gunners this summer? The Swede has scored over 40 goals in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon this season. That’s the second successive season in which the 26-year-old (27 in June) has achieved that feat.

The word is that transfer negotiations have already started with Gyokeres and initial talks have been positive. A fee of £58 million has been mentioned but Arsenal face tough opposition from other clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea.

Arsenal wage bill could be going through the roof this summer. Also on their rumoured list of signings is Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. Not long after Berta took over as sports director, it’s said he was in talks with Williams regarding a move to the Emirates for around £48 million.

He has been a long-term target for the Gunners. A move looked possible last summer but Willams wanted one more season with Bilbao. That’s coming to an end now and he could well be on his way to the Premier League. Or will he stay in La Liga? Barcelona are apparently interested in signing him.

Joan Garcia of Espanyol is also rumoured to be a transfer target. The 23-year-old Spanish goalkeeper has been on the radar for a while but he would have a job on his hands to replace Raya between the sticks.

A possible signing from another Premier League club is Antony. He’s currently on loan at Real Betis and has rediscovered his scoring touch. They are interested in signing him on a permanent basis but Atletico Madrid have also been showing interest

The Brazilian hasn’t set the Premier League alight since joining Manchester United. Therefore, the big question is would he be a hit at the Emirates?

An exciting summer does therefore look likely even if there are no competitive games to play. Great care must be taken though to ensure that those who are signed are both value for money and can significantly boost Arsenal’s chances of becoming Premier League champions next season.
