Arsenal are set to unveil two tifos for Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final match against Paris Saint-Germain, after rejecting a proposal from a fan group.

Earlier this week, some Arsenal fans were left frustrated after it emerged that the club had rejected a proposal from fan group ‘Ashburton Army’ to produce a tifo for the Champions League semi-final match against Paris Saint-Germain.
According to the AA’s statement, they’d raised over £10,000 to fund a display, but the club turned them down, and all money will be refunded to the supporters.
But Arsenal have since confirmed that there will be two tifos for Tuesday’s game, including a cannon design suspended from the roof above the North Bank, and a huge “crowd surfer” that will start in the East Stand.

REDaction Gooners write that they’ve been pushing for roof banners for 10 years or more, with the planned banner using diaphanous material that will be visible from both sides. So even if you’ve got a ticket in the North Bank, you’ll still be able to enjoy it.
As for why the fan proposals were rejected, it’s hard to say for certain, but part of the reason was likely that all three proposals were based on TV show Money Heist (“La Casa de Papel”).
With the potential for copyright infringement and the likelihood that many fans wouldn’t understand the reference, they weren’t ideal options.

The good news is that Arsenal still intend to produce a display for one of the club’s biggest games in at least a decade. It will just be a club-organised display rather than fan-led.
