Arsenal aren’t expected to entertain a summer sale for William Saliba, and incoming sporting director Andrea Berta will work on a new contract for the player as Real Madrid watch on.

Fabrizio Romano reports for his YouTube channel that he doesn’t expect big movements for William Saliba this summer, but Andrea Berta will work on a new contract for the defender.
Romano claims that discussions will follow between Arsenal and Saliba, with Real Madrid not yet opening concrete talks for a potential move. The Spanish side supposedly consider Saliba the “Bellingham of defenders”, but for now, they’re just following the situation.
Arsenal will reportedly have their chance to extend the defender’s contract, and Saliba is sending very positive messages on that front. The Gunners certainly aren’t expected to entertain a summer sale.

Arsenal centre-back Saliba remains a key player for the club in 2024/25, playing 39 times and starting 38 of those matches. The one time he came off the bench was the League Cup quarter-final, with Arsenal 1-0 down at half-time.
Saliba’s current deal in north London lasts until 2027, but it’s clear that at 23 years old, Arsenal will want to keep him around for quite a lot longer.
Even so, the French international recently suggested he hasn’t held contract talks with the club yet.

“Not yet, because there is some years (left), so there is no rush at the minute,” Saliba said last Tuesday.
“I’m really happy here for two years, and loved as well. There is nothing (else to say), I’m happy here and I want to continue here.
“I want to win big things with Arsenal. If you leave this club without winning anything the fans will forget about you. I want to win big things here.”
