Arsenal trio get international call-ups

David Raya and Mikel Merino have been named in Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League quarter-finals against the Netherlands, while Riccardo Calafiori has been selected for Italy’s squad to face Germany.

Raya retains his place among Spain’s goalkeepers alongside Unai Simón and Álex Remiro. The Arsenal goalkeeper has featured regularly in national team squads but faces competition for the starting role. Raya has started five of the last six games for his country, but was back on the bench again for their 3-2 win over Switzerland.

Merino, who has accumulated 31 caps for Spain, remains part of de la Fuente’s plans in midfield. Though PSG‘s Fabián Ruiz has been preferred in the lineup, Merino continues to be a key squad member.

Spain will face the Netherlands in a two-legged tie, with the first match on March 20 in Rotterdam and the return fixture on March 23 in Valencia.

Calafiori has been included in Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad for their Nations League quarter-final against Germany.

The defender joins a group looking to secure a place in the tournament’s final four.

Italy will play the first leg on March 21 in Milan, with the return match in Dortmund on March 24.

Jorginho, who has made 24 appearances for Arsenal this season, has not been selected by Italy since the Euros in the summer.
