Arsenal are not in talks over a contract extension for Thomas Partey, and he seems increasingly likely to leave on a free transfer this summer.

Charles Watts reports that despite Thomas Partey’s Arsenal contract coming to an end this summer, the Gunners are yet to initiate any extension talks, and there’s a growing feeling in the player’s camp that the club won’t push to keep him.
Arsenal are reportedly expected to refresh their midfield options this summer, with the club pushing to sign Martin Zubimendi and young prospect Sverre Nypan, and also linked with a free transfer move for Joshua Kimmich.

Various clubs are in the mix to sign Partey on a free transfer, with Watts claiming Barcelona, PSG, and Juventus are keen on him. The player favours a return to Spain, which makes Barcelona the favourites.
No decision has been made yet, and there’s also been interest from Saudi Arabia. But Partey wants to stay in Europe.
Arsenal are also likely to let Jorginho leave this summer as it stands, with the midfielder’s contract in north London running down as well. Those two exits would free up quite a bit of space on the wage bill, even if neither leave for a transfer fee.

Defensive midfield is the one area of the squad where Arsenal primarily employ ageing players in the latter half of their careers.
A refresh is important this summer, and not extending the contracts of Partey and Jorginho would kickstart that process.
