Will Arsenal sign someone today?

The transfer window closes at 11pm tonight and Arsenal have been linked with countless forwards. Will they actually sign one of them?

Transfer deadline day has arrived, and Arsenal fans hoping for a last-minute addition seem set to be disappointed.

The club’s January business, already sparse, looks set to conclude with a whimper rather than a flourish, with no incoming signings currently expected on deadline day.

It’s a window that promised much and delivered little. The names linked were plentiful, if not always exciting—Evan Ferguson (now at West Ham on loan), Marcus Rashford (now at Aston Villa on loan), Matheus Cunha (just signed a new Wolves deal), Benjamin Šeško, Victor Osimhen, Mathys Tel and more—but, after trying to entice Šeško from RB Leipzig and Wolves to part with Cunha, nothing much has happened.

Even the Mathys Tel saga, which had flickered with possibility until today, has fizzled out.

With one eye on the summer and a €60m deal for Sesko waiting, Arsenal only want Tel on loan. Bayern were reportedly demanding an obligation to buy be included while the Gunners only want an option. As a result, Tel is now on his way to join Tottenham, despite turning them down earlier in the window. No option or obligation is included in that deal.

Ed Aarons of the Guardian now says Arsenal are ‘moving on to other targets’ although absolutely nobody has any idea who they could be.

As of the time of writing, after scouring every credible outlet, and even some of the non-credible ones, there isn’t even the faintest hint of a rumour.

The only business Arsenal appear to be conducting is shipping out youth players on loan, including Maldini Kacurri, who is set to join League Two’s Bromley.
