Arsenal received a tie against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League round-of-16 draw on Friday morning, with the first leg to be played in Eindhoven and the second at the Emirates Stadium.

The expectation was that the first leg would be on Tuesday, March 4th, with the second leg on Wednesday, March 12th.

That’s because Arsenal play Manchester United on Sunday, March 9th, which would usually mean a Wednesday game afterwards. The Manchester United game can’t be moved to the Saturday because United play their Europa League match on the previous Thursday.

Yet PSV are reportedly looking to move the home leg to the Wednesday, March 5th.

De Telegraaf report that PSV hope to move the game to the Wednesday because they’re hosting a carnival in the city until the Tuesday. The club argue that they’ll face difficulties with policing both events on the same night.

But this isn’t the first time PSV have made such a request. In fact, they also did so for their 2007 match against Arsenal. On that occasion, UEFA rejected the request.

We should know the result of PSV’s latest request by the end of the day, as UEFA have committed to confirming the fixture list on Friday, February 21st.
